Hi babaygclare
You are 100% correct when you say that eating too little can stop you from losing weight. It can also aide in bone and muscle loss, and also put your body what is called "starvation mode". It's all VERY unhealthy for you.
There are a ton of calculators out there that can help you figure out how many calories to eat to lose weight.
But a lot of factors have to be taken into consideration. Like: how old you are, how tall you are, what your body shape is and if you get any exercise...
Maybe you should try a 1450-1650 calorie diet rich in fruits, veggies, lean proteins and MILK to start off. If you don't see results in the first couple weeks, then change the calories. It's that simple.
Remember to drink your milk or eat yogurt! So many people dieting forget to drink these because they have "extra calories" that they can save for something else, but your body needs calcium- especially when dieting! If you have any questions, just ask!

@katie_nh -
I do eat very healthy normally. But I do understand that some days -especially as a college student- you just need to eat pizza and burgers and whatnot. LOL.
I will definitely take your comment into consideration. Thank you so much!

Hello, everyone.

I am doing a Study Abroad trip for my University to Costa Rica for three weeks in the Summer, and I am scared to DEATH of putting on weight. I will be at a University down there with no expectations on healthy foods and I know for a FACT that they have no gym. I am very athletic and might be able to run on some days. Is it completely ridiculous that I am contemplating NOT going on this once in a lifetime/free trip for fear of weight gain and loss of fitness?!
And if I should go do you guys have any advice for me?

THANKS SO MUCH!

It will be okay. There are TONS of times you (and everyone else) will fall off the wagon. The thing is that it's normal. You just have to say to yourself. "I didn't do so hot today and I will do better tomorrow." Sometimes having a high calorie day boosts your metabolism! Seriously! You always have tomorrow to set things right. Just make sure that you don't restrict the rest of the day. That just leads to a binge. Good luck!

I am here because I am a calorie counter. I am just maintaining my weight...Sometimes, I just eat A LOT. I am an athlete and work out and lift weights...but I am also small framed. It makes me upset when I eat massive amounts (all carby/ sugary snacks!!) and I feel like it's unhealthy. Do you guys have any advice for me?

I do 4 egg whites, 2 slices of whole wheat toast with SF jelly. That easily holds me over until my mid-morning snack.

The same thing happens to me around 5ish. I chew gum... and try to preoccupy myself. I hope this helps.
