Hi babaygclare
You are 100% correct when you say that eating too little can stop you from losing weight. It can also aide in bone and muscle loss, and also put your body what is called "starvation mode". It's all VERY unhealthy for you.
There are a ton of calculators out there that can help you figure out how many calories to eat to lose weight.
But a lot of factors have to be taken into consideration. Like: how old you are, how tall you are, what your body shape is and if you get any exercise...
Maybe you should try a 1450-1650 calorie diet rich in fruits, veggies, lean proteins and MILK to start off. If you don't see results in the first couple weeks, then change the calories. It's that simple.
Remember to drink your milk or eat yogurt! So many people dieting forget to drink these because they have "extra calories" that they can save for something else, but your body needs calcium- especially when dieting! If you have any questions, just ask!
-GRRLPOWR

@jackiedpepper this info in very accurate. basically if you do anything remotely moving in the day id not advise you go under 1500cals a day, but you can easily lose weight on diet of 1800 with a bit of excercise or atleast making effort to do stars instead of lifts uring the day that sort of thing. BUt its about the amount of fat within this calorie content that important, if you wanna lose weight try to eat low fat within this 1800 maximum for best results. x

Hi Babygclare
As somebody else said, it all depends on your age, height and how active you are during the day. If you are pretty active a good 1800 cals would be decent but if you are quite sedentary like moi, you'll need about 1500. Try not to go below 1200 though as your metabolism could slow and you'll actually gain weight. xx

just some advice when doing calorie counting, i was doing a 1000 cal per day diet a couple of summers ago and went from 65kg to 59kg in 6 weeks. BUT it made me very ill as i was eating a lot of 'low calorie' products in order to keep the daily intake low. you should avoid these products like the plague as they have too many chemicals in them. if you want a naughty snack, make sure to check the ingredients, it's better to eat more calories that are in a sweet snack that's healthy-ish, than to save calories by indulging in low calorie - high artificial additives snacks. they absolutely kill your immune system!

@GRRLPOWR Hi! Thanks so much for the advice - Have upped my cals to 1450 the last two days, but next week I hope I can get back to the gym (been saying that for weeks tho ha!) so will up my cals a bit then. Whenever I go the gym I eat more anyway but always make sure its healthly stuff. Plus going to the gym totally motivates me to not eat any crap. Im not gonna waste cals Ive worked hard to burn on a packet of crisps!!!!
