@becoverall - Congratulations on the pregnancy. I have two girls (3 and 7 months). Everyone could tell when I was preggers because I ate a ton and all of the stuff on my 'trigger-food list'. It felt fun to indulge until the heartburn and acid reflux kicked in. With each baby I gained about 45lbs. It took about 9 months for me to lose it with the first, and I have 10lbs left to go with this one...which will take a bit longer because I'm not working at it as aggressively.

My general philosophy was to let myself indulge while preggers and not worry about weight. With my first...after nursing (which is an awesome way to shed pounds), it was very hard to get my portions under control because I was so used to eating so much more. So with the second one, I focused on moderation and trying to get a lot of vitamin-rich foods into me. I still didn't care about weight gain, which may have freaked out my mother-in-law again (hehe...she's a great lady, but is extremely weight conscience because of all of the health issues obesity and poor diet bring).

Good luck with everything and continue to keep us posted on your pregnancy and food tracking.

@adierking - Thank you so much for this good advice. So nice to know that breast feeding will be helpful in weight loss after the little one arrives too!
