Well, it's not embarassing. If you were happy the way you were before, then controlling your calorie intake is the right way to go! If you exercise (even a brisk walk) regularly and eat between 1200 and 1800 cal a day, drink water and keep fatening things out of reach, you will get there. It takes a while, but you will feel the benefits from it very quicly and it is so motivating. I had a choc binge last night after a month of being good, but I don't feel guilty about it. Allow yourself occasionnal treats, and if you find it hard, keep yourself busy! Good luck.

... to stop tweet for a couple of weeks because of easter holidays, or should I carry on, knowing perfectly well that I will be a lot over my target? Will it be depressing or will it motivate me to eat less cake and chocolate?

A mixture of both is good. The more you burn exercising, the more calories you can eat, although you'll realise you don't actually need that much... Good luck!

well hello waveydavey! Welcome! Get your carrots ready! If after drinking water you are still hungry, then eat. But yes, your stomach will get used to having less, but if you usually eat a lot, you should reduce the amount slowly. Good luck sis ;)

Yes, don't forget that muscle is heavier. Someone suggested before that your body takes some time to readjust when you change things like exercising more. If you carry on pretty much steadyly, you sould carry on loosing. The last pounds get more & more difficult. Hang in there!

No, you're not kidding yourself. Your body needs more cal because it uses more during this time. Often, it is a lack of iron or magnesium. Taking a supplement might help. Ask your pharmacist though because you souldn't take too much either:)

First step archived! Well done.
I didn't think tweat would work for me, I've never dieted before, but it does, I've been on it for nearly a month now and I've got rid a couple of stubborn kilos, and got fitter with exercise. That's the motivation: to notice the positve changes!:)

It sounds like you exercise a lot, so you must need more calories than someone who exercises little. Chocolate is good if you eat some but not in excess like everything. You can find low cal snacks like the special k range, but even that is high enough in calories. I can only think of raw carrots, celery sticks and the like. Herbal teas (some are good!) can keep you off snacks too, or low cal gum to keep your jaws busy. Don't forget you need at least 1200 cal/day. Good luck!

I agree with peoplewillstare. Don't go lower than 1200cal/day. Another suggestion is to eat often and little, at least every couple of hours, that will speed up your metabolism too. Limiting to just 3 larger meals a day gives your body time to think it has to stack up to keep up till the next meal. And if you're up and about most of the day, or exercising, you shouldn't worry too much. :)
ps I think loosing nearly a stone in a month is too fast...

Water or herbal tea (occasional caffeine doesn't hurt!), fruit & veg, no fry ups (same, occasional is ok), fish or meat, pulses, everything natural and not processed. Maybe replace bread with ryvita when you can for ex (wheat is not very good for us...) If you eat little but often, you speed your metabolism, having only 3 meals a day and being hungry in between forces your body to stack all the fats. I think the rule is to eat a bit of everything, in moderation, avoid processed food, drink water and exercise!
That's summing it up. We are all different. You can check web sites to find out how many cals you need to loose or maintain weight, and others for the top healthy foods:)

yes, cutting down gradually is better. Sometimes, swapping a few cups for (good) decaf is a good idea because it tricks your brain into thinking it is caffeine. You can find decaf that's been decafeinated naturely with water rather than chemicals: the one I use is nespresso capsules for exemple :)

That's will power! It's a tough one, eating out. The best you can do is aim the salad menu, and carry low cal healthy snacks with you. And I'm not talking about macdo's salads because those are full of rubbish! Know how many calories things have and you should get by. If you exercise though, it reduces the cals intake and can be quite motivating! good luck

I did yoga for 5 years. I loved it. I don't know about weight loss, but it really defined certain areas in my body. I got stronger and I felt relaxed. I had to stop because it put too much strain on my pelvis (SPD during pregnancy). I find cardio is better for weight loss: for me running was what gave me slimmer legs and smaller bum! But maybe it depends on the person. Having said that, if you check how many cals you burn with yoga, and control intake, you should loose some weight, but I don't think yoga on its own does it...

What about replacing the chocolate with a raw carrot? Your brain might be satisfied with the crunching. Or drink loads of water or chew low cal gum...
