@Dana92484 i can't believe the admin isn't reacting to my request. I've been everywhere - in the help section, faq, it doesn't say how to delete an account anywhere. Let me know if you figure it out! about 1 month ago
I have been on twye for exactly 4 months and I feel I've got into a very unhealthy state of mind. I would like to delete my entire diary but if that's not possible, my account. This doesn't seem to be an option though? Help please. about 1 month ago
Babe don't work yourself up, remember your body can fluctuate on average up to 3 pounds in a day, depending on so many little things. One big bowl of cereal is not going to make you fat, although it does play tricks on your mind and get you down. Set yourself a new target and think up all the reasons to stick to it - to love yourself, impress your ex, enjoy partying, feel better in your skin - and all the things you have to look forward to after it - seeing friends or the holidays or whatever. Trust me, I usually have one or two day binges, this time I binged for an entire week (2500-4000 a day, for a week!!!) and I am still slim. So honest to god, one slip up is fine. We have a tendency to punish ourselves for every little excess and get paranoid about piling on the pounds, when instead we should focus on every time we've managed to eat a tiny bit less than required for our weight... you don't need to go on a drastic diet, just figure out your BMR and once you know that, congratulate yourself every time you are even 20 calories under it, because that is a little weight lost :) Good luck about 1 month ago
Hey guys, hey ladies, sorry to flood the forum, hate doing this but need to make my goal official somewhere so I can keep it in mind this week! I have 8 days to whip myself back into shape - gym every day and healthy eating - because next Saturday is my college's garden party, and appearance in bikini is sadly compulsory. Any advice for sticking to my resolution this week would be welcome! Hope everyone is reaching their summer targets and happy and healthy :) about 1 month ago
Hey catalexis! Am 5'7" and weigh 128, usually fairly sporty (have been going to the gym 2-3 times a week on average for the past 6 months) but this last week have just been eating and eating (last couple weeks of uni = lots of work) and really need to get back on track! Aiming to get down to about 123. Will add you as a friend :) about 1 month ago
Congratulations, that is a major step. A couple days don't seem like much but every time you manage to control the binge impulse is a victory! I am bingeing less, although I do occasionally lose it and then instead of fighting the urge I just work it off in the gym later in the day. Which means physically I'm doing ok, but am concerned that mentally I am not sorting out the problem. If a psychologist suggested to me that I drop twye, stop counting calories, and just try to eat healthily and exercise regularly w/o thinking about it, I think I wouldn't be able to do it. And that's pretty scary. BUT am focusing on stopping the binges at the moment, then maybe once I no longer binge I will be able to slowly let go of the need for control :) You are right that keeping busy is key, and of course when things go better in other areas (love, friends, work) it all gets a little easier I've noticed. Keep up the good work! xxx 2 months ago
Hey! Just as a heads up, instead of taking the "see what happens" route, tell yourself: I've had a healthy breakfast. So now I shouldn't ruin the effort- I'll have a healthy lunch. Then a healthy dinner etc etc! Add up all the effort and the positive decisions you have made during the day and then you'll think: it's not worth wasting all of that hard work for a measly piece of junk food :) 2 months ago
Hey guys! So my birthday is in 3 weeks, and I only have 3 pounds left to lose until I reach my ideal weight. I know a pound a week seems easy but with nights out, essay crises etc I seem to be a little stuck at my current weight. I am exercising a lot and on most of the days when I eat too much I manage to burn it off with a gym sesh but somehow my weight is staying stable. What are your tips for the final 3 pounds / a reasonable plan for 3 weeks, bearing in mind social nights out? All advice would be really welcome! Hope everyone is doing well. xxx 2 months ago
@xxHunyJxx very true that the stick-thin obsession is a recent phenomenon and not something that has existed for more than a few decades or so. I just read an article (http://www.lilithgallery.com/feminist/anorexia/Anorexic003-EatingDisorders.html) suggesting that the craze started in the eighties with all the fitness/work out/aerobics hype. Tbh in my mind I thought the uber-skinniness was a noughties thing but if you look at the cosmo of 1988 the model is as skinny as a VS model today, only the bikini is a different shape... sad to see this trend has been messing with women's minds for quite a while... And you're right, we need to be more supportive amongst women. Hope you are doing ok x 2 months ago
Just writing this post to say to everyone, the body dysmorphia has got to STOP. Whether you're a size 0 or a 24, a comfort-eater, a big drinker, bulimic/anorexic, stressed by work, unable to do sport because of your job/a sickness/an operation, we women have got to stop hating our bodies! It is such an unhealthy relationship! This realisation struck me when I got back from an hour's intense work at the gym really late last night. I eschewed one of my closest friend's birthdays to go do some CARDIO because I had binged yesterday afternoon and wanted to burn the calories rather than go out and drink. I have been way too tough on myself for the past few months and last night, when I got back from the gym, exhausted, a friend saw me as she was going out and said "are you eating enough? you look skinny sweetheart." And then another friend called me to find out where I was, as 3 of my flatmates had practically sent out a search party because they knew I had no plans to go out but wasn't in my room. Seeing how concerned they were and the remark about my skinniness has made me realise I have taken this obsession waaaaayyyyy too far. We need to start treating our bodies like they deserve to be treated, ladies. Give them some love. 2 months ago
I have been on a near-constant low recently, so been massively bingeing. We don't have the same problem, as mine is psychological and yours was social, but the good news is in your case you can just set your mind to the task and with a couple week's concentration and a firm "no" to pressure from friends you will have no trouble getting that bikini bod back! Can you hit the gym again over the next 5 weeks? Also, try to plan your week in advance, deciding which nights will be in and which will be nights out. That has helped me a lot, as I tend to do my gym sessions on the days when I am going to go over my calorie intake (for instance when I know I will be drinking) or eat slightly smaller meals/cut out carbs/dessert etc if I am hitting the town with friends. Planning your days will also help you avoid "useless" calories - if I'm hesitating whether to stay in and work or go to the pub I might have a glass of wine while I decide, and there's not much point in that if in the end I choose to catch an early night. Set yourself weekly weight loss targets - but leave a margin for occasional slip-ups or treats! :) Hope this helps x 2 months ago
Don't cry! You might have weighed your body at different times of the day, before or after eating, hydrated or dehydrated, I just found out about "water weight" which means you can lose or gain up to 3 pounds in a DAY just from sweating or inversely drinking. Short-term weight loss diets like the cabbage soup/sacred heart diet have instant effects because they eliminate water weight, but therefore can also be easily regained. So don't panic, keep eating sensibly and going out and moving and try no to obsess over the scales - you will keep losing :) 2 months ago
Hey, firstly really love the idea of a weekly summary and you guys have received requests for an e-mail digest but I'd rather go on TWYE and read it on the site rather than get an e-mail, if that makes sense. So if the summary could be available on the site and have as additional option to be sent by e-mail as well that would be great!
Secondly a daily summary of total calories consumed per day seems a little redundant to me, isn't that just the basic function we already get on the site? Also in my case total number of entries isn't all that interesting, some people put "lunch" or "binge" and list 20 different foods, others enter each ingredient separately... I'm not sure it would be all that useful. What I would love would be if we could set our daily maximum calorie intake (which we could adjust from one week to the next), and see in one week how much we went over that limit or just made the count or went under it. I believe a lot of people would appreciate this idea as many women have worked out how much they are allowed each day to maintain their weight, and the amount of calories consumed in a week would help users work out if they have lost, gained or maintained their weight. Other weekly statistics, if you implemented the diary options you suggested, could include how many of the total entries were in the category "hunger"/"social"/"emotional eating." Then people could see patterns in their eating behaviour more easily, and notice for instance that they always tend to eat out of boredom in the afternoon when they have nothing to do, or tend to drink too much on Saturdays on pub nights out. They could then target what they need to change in their eating habits. 2 months ago
I am going through the same! I have amazing ups, feel good, love life, think about other things, and then for no reason all my resolutions come crashing down in a split-second - and that is usually the problem - for me 4 day's work can be ruined in literally a half hour binge. For me it's easier when I have projects and plans and things to look forward to, so enjoy getting to know this guy and don't let him pressure you into changing your eating habits, but don't worry about the occasional beer either and relax with him :) Even if we feel better in our bodies knowing we are 3 pounds lighter, honestly other people will like you just the same. So have fun at the wedding and embrace life! Hope this isn't too preachy :) 2 months ago
@shaunapugh yeah i think i have now dug my own grave at 2500+ calories for the day, but instead of giving it up as a bad job, as soon as I get my essay done I will dance around in my room for a few hours! thank you :) 2 months ago
Have been snacking like a pig all morning because I was planning on burning roughly 800 calories at the gym tonight, only to find out my gym wants me to book an INDUCTION to the fitness room first, so I would have to go once to book (they won't let me do it by phone), then the next time for a useless induction, and THEN only could I do some sport! And their next free slot for inductions is Friday, provided I go all the way there today to book it. Euuuuurrrrrrgh I hate bureaucracy! Really sorry for the negative ranting, I just had to vent my frustration... Anyone have any intense alternatives to the gym to burn even half of what I planned? xx 2 months ago
@alexressi I can imagine what you might be worried about is the whole diary process becoming too complicated and putting people off who just want to keep track of food, because the pitch of TWYE is being the simplest food diary out there. So my feedback would be to incorporate all the ideas mentioned above (emotes, notes, fat tracker) with options to enable or disable each one separately (for instance I would only opt in for notes). Sorry if that sounds really obvious, I don't doubt you've already thought this through, just throwing it out there :) 2 months ago
@sapphirelazuli thank you! that is indeed a positive thought :) hope all is going well for you x 2 months ago
Honestly, we all are :) I think I get what you mean with the "unsafe" food, at least in my case as soon as something is obviously not healthy your mind thinks you've blown it and so since you've screwed up you might as well continue. I was also reading this interview with Scarlett Johansson in which she talks about her diet for her latest film, and from the way she sounded she seemed a little paranoid about fatty foods too - she said something about feeling really "clean" while eating healthily. Much as a detox can be a really great way to kickstart a diet and make your body feel replenished, you shouldn't freak out about fat per se. I went through this orthorexic phase - obsession with eating nothing but "clean" foods - but the point is your body needs a little of everything, and if you exercise and eat lots of nutritious stuff, the occasional side of chips will not do you any harm. The most dangerous thing with an orthorexic diet (if you are a chocolate fiend like me) is that the deprivation will lead to a point where you will go crazy from the craving and binge. The most important thing therefore is to allow yourself the occasional less healthy food (if you really love it that is - it's got to be worth it) aaaaaand when you have it to just enjoy it and not to think "Now I'm screwed, I might as well keep going" - you are NOT screwed and you CAN stop :) Good luck x 2 months ago
Good on you! People sometimes mistakenly think you are making your life miserable by depriving yourself of junk food, along the lines "life is too short to drink diet coke" and other such proverbs, but if you in your heart feel happier and healthier when you have been good and can just enjoy the occasional treat, you need to let them know that. Well done, it's a big step towards your goal! :) 2 months ago
