I did yoga for 5 years. I loved it. I don't know about weight loss, but it really defined certain areas in my body. I got stronger and I felt relaxed. I had to stop because it put too much strain on my pelvis (SPD during pregnancy). I find cardio is better for weight loss: for me running was what gave me slimmer legs and smaller bum! But maybe it depends on the person. Having said that, if you check how many cals you burn with yoga, and control intake, you should loose some weight, but I don't think yoga on its own does it...

@clarabelleclara Thanks for your response. I love yoga, but I think I'll have to add 30-40 minutes of cardio as well.<br> Shea

Not primary loss, as you need cardio, so I do gym sessions as much as poss and then on the odd Sat a yoga session, it really helps tone and stretch my tired muscles. I would imagine some people can just do yoga on its own, but I have fat to burn so rely on running lots.
